Maybe everyone already knows this and I’m dumb. But USDC purchases are free on Coinbase, transferring to Base with USDC also free, buying crypto on Dex’s has much lower fees than on a CEX with near immediate “settlement”. Why would I ever buy crypto on Coinbase ever again? Is there a misalignment here?

They make money off of people buying USDC. They earn a yield and don't pass it along to stablecoin holders.
