Vigdís Finnbogadóttir is an Icelandic politician. From 1980 to 1996,she was the fourth president of Iceland and the first woman in the world to be democratically elected as president. Also,with a sixteen-year presidential term,she has maintained the longest tenure of an elected female president of a country to date.
