FBI: Cryptocurrency Fraud Losses Increased by 45% in 2023

The FBI recorded a 45% increase in cryptocurrency fraud losses in 2023, according to its annual Financial Crimes Report.

In total, Americans filed more than 69,000 complaints about digital asset-related fraud last year, resulting in losses of $5.6 billion.

Cryptocurrency accounted for 10% of all complaints and about half of the total losses.
