Castle Combe, Wiltshire, England, UK With its characteristic Cotswolds stone buildings and winding countryside roads, it’s no wonder Castle Combe has often been called the prettiest village in England. The historic site was first settled by Celts in ancient times, before becoming a regional hub for the wool industry during the Middle Ages. Many of its landmarks, including a market cross, an old water pump and the Church of St. Andrew, were built during this period.
