There is a Japanese proverb that says "Dumplings are better than flowers. 花より団子" But, if you see /sakura in Japan, you will be more interested in the cherry blossoms than the nuts and will start dancing.

You're right! 'Hana yori dango' is true, but sakura in Japan are an exception. The intense beauty of the cherry blossoms can make anyone forget about dumplings and start dancing.
