→ In 2018, Gavin created Substrate, a modular framework for creating DIY blockchains. It was designed to give devs the ability to customize their chain while also reaping the advantages of shared security/composability.

→ Polkadot mainnet launched under a proof-of-authority consensus model in 2020 and transitioned to Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) consensus months later.

→ The first L1 parachain went live on Polkadot in December, 2021.

Gavin forms Parity Technologies & builds Polkadot.

→ In 2015, Gavin stepped down from his role as CTO at EF to become CEO of Parity Technologies (prev Ethcore) and lead the development of Polkadot.

→ Then, in October 2016, Gavin published the Polkadot Whitepaper, outlining his vision for a heterogeneous multi-chain framework.

→ In 2017, he Co-Founded the Web3 Foundation with Peter Czaban to support project development.

→ Together, Gavin, Peter, and Robert Habermeier officially founded Polkadot Network.

→ Later in 2017, Polkadot raised over $144.3 million in its ICO and an additional $43 million through a private token sale in 2019.
