BTC and ETH have both been debased by their USD exchange rate obsession which is actually antithetical to their purpose as alternative currencies. Fiat exchange debases crypto IMO. BUT, ERC20 on a blockchain can allow communities to create their own independent currencies interacting with other communities of value. The money revolution hasn’t started yet.

Yeah dollars are the unit of account. I think folks holding crypto to mitigate fiat debasement is a start because they start to look at the crypto not the fiat as the thing of value
