We thought hard about being a @moxie.eth Hero this week and how we'll celebrate that. Introducing Pkok Finterviews - Cast-form farcaster interviews, 20 questions to some of our favorite people. We aim to tell stories of phenomenal individuals shaping the art ecosystem on web3. It's also a great way for us and other heroes to get to know and engage with them. Oh! each interview starts with /degen love. But wait, there's more! These Finterviews are not restricted to only those we tag. If you'd like to participate, just respond to the questions and join the party, everybody is invited to be a part of these Finterviews. Tell us more about yourself, read other people's stories and hopefully we all get to know each other better by the end. Pkok Finterviews, a 🧵

It's great to have you here and thank you for accepting our invitation 2000 $DEGEN. Shall we begin? What initially drew you to art, and how did your journey as an artist begin? https://warpcast.com/pkok/0xa1a40608

Thank you a lot for the invitation. Let´s go ✨ Since I was very young, art has always been a place of experimentation and enchantment. I've always liked to draw and I think that a milestone in the transition from "teenage drawings" to my first works of art was when I began to develop my own poetics and find a field of artistic research.

Is there anyone special that helped you when you were starting out? If yes, what difference did they make?

Great question! I had the joy and good fortune of meeting great friends in my youth who were also passionate about art. We formed a very close-knit group and supported each other. There were young musicians, poets, photographers and visual artists. And we always created situations to show our work, do things together and experience what others were doing.

It's easier in a group of like-minded people, isn't it? How would you describe your artistic style to someone unfamiliar with your work?

It's great to have someone to share with, to exchange experiences, tips and references. Growing together is much richer. About my artwork, as I've done projects with very different languages over the years, I think I'd choose to tell about a specific project or series.

It's true that you are involved in so many different initiatives as a multi-disciplinary artist that a particular style should refer to each of these categories. But yes, tell us about a specific project, the most representative for you, eventually.

I think it might be relevant to talk about my generative art works, because they're the ones that people here at Farcaster have seen the most. I would describe them like this: I create works that start from simple elements (geometric shapes or typography) to build compositions that play with rhythm, colors, depth and textures. From generative art, I'm interested in exploring the possibility of building codes that can generate infinite outputs, but that each one is unique and all together make up the concept of the project.

I see a spiral path, rather than something in a straight line. Some themes or interests fall asleep and come back some time later, sometimes research that started in one project triggers something years later, other times, when we're doing a new project, we find a much better way to develop a certain issue. In different projects, some things persist over time: the interest in typography/writing, the concept of the multiple (printed or digital), questions about contemporary cities (this appears more in photography and urban intervention work).

Can you explain what 'urban intervention' means as a concept to those who are unfamiliar with the term?

Let me try... Urban intervention is the term used to refer to artworks made directly in the public space, covering a wide range of works from stickers to site-specific installations. What interests me most about urban intervention is the potential of the works to affect the specific contexts of cities, to raise questions, to propose critical ways of dealing with problems, or to suggest different ways of looking at them.

Thank you for the clarification! Going back to your art, what do you want people to feel or experience when they see your work?

During all these years, project after project, what I've been looking for is to create artworks that are thought-provoking and that can generate a “state of poetry” in people.

We're pretty sure the 'state of poetry' was achieved several times by many of your admirers when looking at your works. Can you share a moment when you felt truly proud or fulfilled as an artist?

This year I'm participating in a very important exhibition here in Brazil. This exhibition brings together 130 artists and architects, including Marcel Duchamp, Cildo Meireles, Maria Martins, Guignard, Lucio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer, Burle Marx, Rosângela Rennó and Vik Muniz. It first took place in Rio de Janeiro, where it had more than 7,000 visitors. It has now been reassembled in the federal capital, where it will be on display until the end of November. It's a great pleasure to participate in an exhibition like this and an amazing recognition of my work.
