Meet Rachel Suzanne Tien Wood @rachelstwood, an American adventure photographer whose remarkable artistic journey began with a leap of faith in 2019 when she left her office job, purchased a one-way ticket to Peru, and set off to explore the world with her camera as her compass. 

Born in Vietnam and adopted into a multicultural upbringing across Costa Rica and the USA, her passion for discovery began early and solidified during her first solo international adventure at age 13. Travel became a cornerstone of her life, and photography became the means to capture its fleeting, transformative beauty.

In November 2021, Rachel hopped onto Twitter. She had no idea what NFTs were and had a lot of doubt about whether it was a place for small artists who did not have large social media followings. But being patient and relentlessly following her path, she has been able to make a name for herself and even been invited to speak at many crypto conferences, be exhibited in a museum, shown in exclusive galleries all around the world, and founded several successful community-driven projects.

Rachel’s work, blending raw emotion and vibrant landscapes, has earned her global recognition. Featured in Beeple’s Winter Wonderland gallery and showcased in NYC’s Times Square, she has also graced prestigious platforms like Art Basel in Miami, sponsored by National Geographic and Morgan Stanley. Her accolades include being named one of the Top 100 Emerging Artists by HUG, curated by experts from MoMA, Christie's, and The Shed. Rachel’s collaboration with TIMEPieces and Deepak Chopra reflects her deep connection to both art and storytelling.

A pivotal moment in Rachel’s career came during a trip to Iceland, where adverse weather led her to abandon the wide lenses and experiment with a telephoto lens. This creative risk unveiled the "Volcano Abstracts Series," a celebration of overlooked details in nature. The series encapsulates her philosophy: embracing the unexpected often leads to the most profound discoveries. The success of this series funded her next great adventure to Australia, together with Robert Downey @intrepid, where she documented a once-in-a-century flooding event that transformed arid landscapes into lush fields of ancient grasses.

Her experiences in Australia culminated in her “Terra Nova: By Way of Water” project, capturing water's transformative power across Earth's most extreme terrains. From the vibrant blooms in Australia’s Outback to Brazil’s Lençóis Maranhenses, where seasonal rains carve ephemeral lagoons into endless dunes, Rachel’s work illustrates nature’s resilience.

Rachel’s photos reveal the extraordinary ways water reshapes landscapes, offering a profound parallel to our ability to adapt and thrive.
