We thought hard about being a @moxie.eth Hero this week and how we'll celebrate that. Introducing Pkok Finterviews - Cast-form farcaster interviews, 20 questions to some of our favorite people. We aim to tell stories of phenomenal individuals shaping the art ecosystem on web3. It's also a great way for us and other heroes to get to know and engage with them. Oh! each interview starts with /degen love. But wait, there's more! These Finterviews are not restricted to only those we tag. If you'd like to participate, just respond to the questions and join the party, everybody is invited to be a part of these Finterviews. Tell us more about yourself, read other people's stories and hopefully we all get to know each other better by the end. Pkok Finterviews, a 🧵

Welcome to our Finterview @zachlipp Your web3 journey is strikingly unique in the sense that although you're an artist, your foray into web3 started as an art collector. Let's start there. How did it all began? How did you stumble upon digital art and what compelled you to start collecting? https://warpcast.com/pkok/0xca244667

My journey began during a wave of COVID in December of 2021. I had relocated to the Midwest from Los Angeles and was living with my family at my wife’s parents home. I tested positive for COVID and I ended up in isolation for 10 days. During this time, an old friend who knew my photography work told me about NFTs. With nothing but the internet and my own curiosity, I went deep down the rabbit hole into Twitter spaces and Twitter to try to understand this new world. I don’t believe I collected anything until February of 2022. The advice I was given upon arriving on the scene was to take my time. I felt that collecting would provide me some skin in the game for something that I believed in and would help me better understand the experience from the other side.

Can you recall the first item you ever collected? And which one was your first 'significant' acquisition?

Elise Swopes was an artist who had inspired me through her story during an Adobe conference I attended online during the COVID era. She lived in an urban environment and created art that combined her imagination with her actual urban surroundings. And she did it all with limitations, she did it all with her iPhone. I related to this as I was in Los Angeles and spent a lot of time with skyscrapers and buildings in downtown LA and Hollywood, but my heart and mind were often attracted to places of natural beauty and isolation across the world that I wanted to see and photograph. Elise had created a DAO called Sunrise Art Club. The DAO auctioned a sunrise every day of 2022 (same composition) that she’d photographed previously from the same spot at least 365 times. I bought my first NFT and one of these sunrises in February of 2022. Sunrise Art Club was built to elevate artists who were often overlooked, but deserved to be seen. I loved this mission and how one sunrise was part of something bigger.
