She was born in Estonia, at that time part of the USSR but together with her family, she emigrated to Germany and, in 1993, got her first cheap plastic camera. Since that moment, the camera has become her life companion.
Over the course of eight years, she had the opportunity to live in African countries such as Ghana, Namibia, and South Africa. This experience allowed her to investigate parallel subjects across cultures and economic conditions, significantly broadening her field of work. As she is saying, ‘I came to Africa as a photographer but left as an artist’.

Angelika’s work has been recognized by prestigious organizations and competitions, including being a finalist in the Sony Photography Award 2024, a winner in the Portrait category of CPOY 78, the Pro Series category of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award (2024), Bartur Photo Award Founders Choice (2023), Best in Competition from FMoPA (2023), 1st Prize Winner (2020) and Finalist (2022) from Lensculture, among many others.
Additionally, her work has been exhibited at esteemed venues and festivals worldwide, including the Helsinki Foto Festival, Sony World Photography Award Exhibition in London, the OFF Foto Festival in Bratislava, ArtBasel Miami, solo shows in Cape Town and Tampa, Florida and group exhibitions in Barcelona, Sapporo, New York, Berlin, Paris, Budapest, Lisbon, etc just to name a very few. She has been published in renowned outlets such as CNN, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Scientific American, Musée Magazine, PhotoVogue, and F-Stop Magazine.
