Timely essay considering the latent energy Farcaster is vibrating with rn 😮‍💨 How do we avoid Farcaster turning into a “rarefied incubator”? 🫨 https://skunkledger.substack.com/p/scenes-and-villages

Great essay about - dare I say- scenius! Keeping true to our values, appreciating diversity and the social glue people, and blending with the magic of IRL- events, Farcon, etc, and I know of several efforts to create physical cultural artifacts happening right now.

👀👀👀 but none of those involve touching the “real world” (whatever tf that means) and that’s what causes the long slow death I think

“real world” as defined as beyond the borders of our village/scene?

I think so Like - it’s awesome that we ship/create stuff for each other, but without a healthy cultural/creative exportation to immigration pipeline we will lose touch I think

farcaster is village, twitter subcultures are scenes and the scene is partly a product of size: if you have lots and lots of people gathering, circle forms around niches, hence e/acc, politics, AI, while Farcaster talks about "i just had ice cream on this good sunday afternoon" (village stuff) both important and good
