Oh absolutely Shvem is a great example. I'd ask him and he'd always say, "it's just noise" or "it's just circles" -- (in this case it's circles, btw) -- he really is a master at making relatively mundane rendering techniques looking completely alien and novel.

And the algorithms that define the details of the patterns or however it works, that is the real wtf for me.
