A layman's guide to DistrictOne. 
My approach is to go tab by tab across the top and explain what i understand about each. Then you can go to each tab with some understanding of WTF is there, without looking at the endless epilepsy-fit-inducing mess and getting confused like i did.

**LIVE**

These are the chat rooms (called ‘spaces’).
Each chat room has been created by someone who has linked their twitter. The number of followers on twitter will appear next to their name - this should have some sort of indication as to their legitimacy.

Some spaces you can go ahead and chat in - some you have to be a “shareholder”. And more recently - some are token gated/ eg. Pacmoon chat you must hold 1000 $PAC.

You can buy a share using eth or the D1 Token: $OLE

If you buy a share, the value will increase or decrease (in $OLE) based on the number of shares sold or bought after your purchase.
The number of shares in a space is infinite, so a space will start with 1 share, and then based on the perceived value of the chat (or the creator of the chat) the value will follow.

This means if you are early to a space and buy a share before a ton of others do, your share will increase in value. And vice versa.

Be wary - ive seen spaces created that may look like a slam dunk, the creator will buy a bunch of shares, others will buy in and then the creator will dump them all.

Each sale of shares has fees which are distributed to the holders - both passively and on a FCFS basis in chat.
%OLE from the sales of the shares is claimable to your wallet in the MY SPACE tab.

I will come back and explain what happens in these space after giving more context to the other tabs.

**SPACES**

List of existing spaces, you can sort by cost of share, movement in price, number of holders. You can also quickly see the creator.

**SPRINT** 

These are space that have tradeable shares, but arent live with a chat yet. This seems to be a way of showing legitimacy before going live, it also bootstraps the OLE and GEMS liquidity so that when live, there are valuable reward mechanics live too.

**LINKUP**

Ref link bs. Probably valuable if you have an active following but i dont so i dont really care about this.

**sOLE**

You can stake a set amount of OLE using eth to give you benefits in the game. Eg. 3x winnings from raffles in spaces. I’ll touch on the raffles, called “rallies” in the final section.

**MY SPACE**

This tab shows you what shares you own, the fees you've collected, performance etc.

**GOLD & OLE**

See the Blast gold and GEMS that you've collected.

GEMS will earn you blast gold. GEMS is an off chain points system found in spaces. I know right, another bloody unit of magical money to keep track of. But these should give you the gold which we all want. I’ll explain GEMS more in the final section.

**PARTICIPATING IN SPACES**

Being thrown into a chat room seemed awkward and weird to me when I first logged on a month ago (I then abandoned D1). But I revisited it a couple days ago and it makes a little more sense to me.

My recommendation for your first space is to be around when a “RALLY” happens and just watch what happens.
These occur every 2 hours. You click a button and commit some GEMS to a pool along with others in the space. I believe the host also commits gems.

Then 15 minutes later the first 70% of people who rally to click a button (lol) get to split the gems.

This number will increase by 3x if you hold a share of that space. You get another 3x if you stake OLE on the sOLE tab.

As lame and simple as this is, it is fun and you do start to connect with people in the space during the 15 minutes you wait around. 
You can do 2 rallies a day, 4 if you stake OLE.
Get more GEMS, get more gold I guess.

There are SO many more elements to the game.

For example if you hold a share of a space, whenever someone buys or sells a purple box will appear in the chat and the first X number of people to click it will get OLE from the fees of the sale.

Space hosts also give away GEMS randomly.

All these mechanics are designed to keep you in the space.

I hope this is somewhat helpful. The docs are good to read but super confusing unless you already understand D1. I've tried to write this in a way that someone in CT can read without having participated before.

If you see a reputable name in this list - it may be a good way of being early. If you buy shares in a space that is in sprint mode, and then it goes live (i think the top X number of sprint spaces go live daily) - you get OLE rewards.
