I don't think owning assets in itself is the way to eliminate poverty. The ICO craze was pretty detrimental to most small/not wealthy investors who were taking way bigger risks than wealthy ones. In the end, they still served as escape liquidity for founders, early investors and employees working on the project.

I think the only way you can escape poverty is by meaningfully contributing to a project and get rewarded. That's how capitalism works. You could argue that people owning most of the assets will extract most of the value from the people working on the project but they also take bigger risk/have more skin in the game.
