Utah’s H.B. 230 Blockchain and Digital Innovation Amendments received a favorable recommendation from the House Committee on January 28, 2025 (EST), making Utah the second U.S. state to pass such legislation through committee. The bill allows state treasurers to invest a portion of public funds in qualifying digital assets while setting requirements for asset custody, management, and compliance. State treasurers may invest in qualifying digital assets with a market capitalization exceeding $50 billion, capped at 5% of each account’s total funds

According to Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart, the Nasdaq Stock Market has filed a proposed rule change with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to update the regulations related to the iShares Bitcoin Trust. The proposed change aims to allow “in-kind transfers” of the Bitcoin held by the trust.

I'll remain optimistic until the dust settles but this feels like a massive step backwards. Celebrities getting richer while draining money out of our ecosystem leaving behind negative headlines and proving the skeptics right that it's just a giant ponzi built on vaporware.
