Question: does a DePIN project have to be a huge TAM for it to end up being successful? Ex: helium going after $1T telecoms space vs something smaller like noise sensor or air quality sensor space

IMO, no; It's equally possible to have successful DePIN products / protocols with smaller TAM, but exhibit hyper localized network effects.
