I think one reason Farcaster feels so *nice* to use and be on is that it seems so… normal. 

Not much shitposting, heated arguments, etc. Just good vibes.

How about Reddit-style communities, governed by designated users (heck, throw a multisig on there and call it a DAO), which can have their own community guidelines and rules?

This has been an ongoing thought from some other pre-permissionless folk with hopes to keep the same vibes. I don't see it scaling, though.

One idea has been to create a custom client that is gated by FID. I think this would be too exclusive and create this strange elitism that goes against the very vibes in question.

Twitter literally had this with Communities and then killed the feature. 

My personal view is that only moderated communities with rules on behavior, not open public networks, can maintain this.

Maybe it’s all about the algo? Or more exactly, the behavior it incentivizes. If the FC algo rewards the same behaviors the Twitter algo does then we’re just gonna end up with another Twitter.
