God damn, I love rewriting code last nights code with the fresh head of the early morning. I am a different person than whoever that was last night - and I'm the consumer of his work...with morning beginners mind, I can fix his contorted inside-out thinking. Which is cool, cause his job was merely to get it to work.

Mostly it's about naming things, and "how the next person" is gonna experience "feel" working with an API. It's incredible to me how powerful the art of naming is for cleaning up sloppy thinking. Same thing, with different naming, is not the same thing at all.

It's much the same for me as a writer. Morning-writer-me is always grateful to evening-writer-me for getting *something* coherent onto the page, even if it sucks. Evening-writer-me is always grateful to morning-writer-me for cleaning up her messes.
