The Oath of the Horatii - Jacques-L David, 1784 The work portrays the Horatii family. Only 1/3 bros will survive in a fight for Rome VS the Curiatii bros of Alba Longa. Clear, linear style & dramatic narrative stood in contrast to the Rococo style: replacement of the frivolity by duty & commitment to the greater good
