Went to a wonderful dinner yesterday evening. I didn’t feel out of place. Could actually have conversations. I generally avoid parties as I’m extremely afraid of social interactions. There was a political science professor who brilliantly reminded us that the United Kingdom really invented democray and more importantly the concept of democratic practice in public institutions. He has been teaching for 45 years. I saw him having three glasses of white wine in rapid succession, while keeping his ability to talk clearly. I barely touched my generously served glass of wine.
