Do you think that Retro is gonna make it?

I feel like we’re seeing a new wave of intimate social apps that will have different biz models and incentives.

Network effects will play out completely differently than they did with Big Social, because intimiate social only needs small dense social graphs. 

Pockets of small communities, say <50 people per group

Retro is beautiful and fun. Feels hard to hit venture scale though before Instagram clones 80% of the value.

It seems like most of these intimate social apps have all failed. 

Maybe the attention seeking and engagement baiting from all the big social networks has to do with it?

Retro reminds me of Path - beautiful app, no engagement hacking, just share “passive” updates with your friends. But interesting thing is, most my friends were on Path but only few using Retro… or maybe I need to find a new friend group 🥹
