i don't think you necessarily need the funniest or smartest people on farcaster for people to want to spend their time here

when you get to know someone, even their more menial content becomes interesting to you

the people who's content i enjoy the most on farcaster aren't famous or necessarily exceptional in their fields or even post about a certain topic. they're just normal people (often like-minded peopel) who i have gotten to know over time and now feel emotionally invested in

i don't think it's necessarily trivial to reproduce this outcome, but i think it's definitely worth exploring

While Farcaster is densely packed with talented smart people, the content I like seeing most is often from Farcasters I met IRL at meetups like Farcon or surfing in SD

Amazing what meeting in person even once will do to transform your perception of and appreciation for them online. Especially since you can read their casts in their actual voice/cadence.

I still enjoy the content of people I haven’t met, but there is a much deeper sense of connection and understanding for the people I have met

while i agree with you, i still feel you can enjoy content of people without meeting irl.

don’t think meeting has that much effect, but it’s probably a personal perspective thing

It helps to some extent, but there’s a big difference talking to someone 1-1 in person that just watching a video of them online

Do podcasts help to feel that level of familiarity or it still mainly has to be after meeting in person to have that effect

This. Still remember our conversation and your voice when we talked in office kitchen at the beginning of the hackathon. Ever since I met folks at FarCon I found their casts much more valuable and engaging than before

Sigh, I totally get your POV. Thing is, you may not get the privilege of meeting so many amazing people on this network because they are scattered all over and they could have really good content or things to offer. I just ask that you try and keep and open mind

i see a lot of my fellow nigerian developers and builder on here and hope to onboard some other founders and maybe become one my self and i want to try to host the first /farcon -nigeria or /basecamp nigeria to meet some really peculiar people.
that’ll be one of the top things i’ll be working on next year.

Saw a cast recently on how videos in Warpcast has to be addressed 
I think this can foster “reading the voices in their casts too” do you like the idea too

I mean that’s pretty normal to see creatives you meet irl in a different light. Especially when they bring another of their insane creations right into your face. 

But does this mean you see those whom you haven’t met yet differently, even though they’re just as excellent as those you’ve met?

True, it sure feels good to put a face and voice to the text you’ve been communicating with

location barrier definitely limits people to all this meet-ups
