Some tips how to make your pour over better! Blooming or pre-wetting is important step of brewing coffee using pour over method. During roasting of coffee, carbon dioxide forms inside beans. Carbon dioxide has aggressive acidity that can negatively affect taste of coffee. Blooming is release carbon dioxide when coffee comes into contact with water. Water to wash away the carbon dioxide before it can extract substances from the coffee. Blooming is indicated by release of bubbles and foam. Pour water 1:2 or 1:3 coffee-to-water ratio and stir the coffee particles, releasing carbon dioxide. Then add remaining water. Total blooming time is approximately 20-30 seconds
