couldn’t decide between the two: dealing with anger — never go to bed angry / don’t stay angry for too long & the darkest darks are next to your lightest lights. 

my dad always said to me “don’t go to sleep angry — work it out, don’t stay angry for too long.” sometimes when i get upset & really want to dig my heels in — i can hear his voice in my head reminding me to let go. to not hold on to any of that bs. it’s impacted me in such a way that i try to always work any argument out before my head hits the pillow. i don’t hold on to anger — or “upset” — that’s a kind of poison that keeps you stuck 

i had this incredible art teacher that would always say paint “your darkest darks next to your lightest lights” & while this is so true in all the best paintings — it’s true in all life experiences. your darkest darks are always right next to your lightest lights — think about it. it’s impacted me by letting me accept the dark for what it is — a period before the light
