The microchip database that went dark always haunts me. All my dogs are chipped, I worry about if one ever becomes lost and the chip database ceases to be. Similar to an identification app, we could build a PWA (or in this instance a paw haha!) that inputs a microchip number and then uses AI/ML to smart-identify a dog within a specific spatial and time requirement from input to help ensure when an animal identifier is scanned it’s the intended subject of the chip’s scan. The image/media, any live media, geospatial and device data, as well as any other helpful metadata for search, rescue, and care for found dogs. Think of it like how we do ID scan and selfie check verifications but dogs. Neatly packed, this media and metadata can be stored on-chain immutably. If a chipped pet is ever lost, the app could allow the token to be staked with rewards crowdfund that pushes a web socket endpoint to help globalize and incentivize finding lost pets.

It can even be expanded to help us see which dogs have been exposed to other dogs through regular chip checks, helping us fight outbreaks of Kennel Cough, Parvo, and so much more. Geospatial data would help us identify spread of disease through veterinarians participating in getting chips on chain. The data could be paid for by tokens on a network. Something like XYO would be ideal to build the geospatial part on and Base for the metadata for animals. I’m working on something similar for livestock we may work with a university on and my business partner up at his family’s ranch- but this was an idea spawned off that I wanted to share about. If someone doesn’t build it before me I surely will.
