I once again have to decommission a perfectly functional smartphone because the vendor stops providing security updates. Please recommend secure 2023 phones with an open-source operating system, e.g., graphene, sailfish.

seconding GrapheneOS on a Pixel with Tensor. I imagine @rdl has good recommendations

Pixels have good security, and Graphene is tremendous, but the devices are way too expensive and mainstream, unfortunately. Also, no headphone jack is a bummer.

Interesting, how is mainstream a negative here? Google’s selling the 6a for $450 which is pretty good for a mid-range phone imo. Yeah, finding one with a headphone jack makes it more difficult

Mainstream means they remove features that the average Apple/Samsung user does not need (a headphone jack is just the latest example). I have much higher expectations when it comes to expensive hardware. Yes, $450 is still a lot of money for something you have to carry around.
