I have come to the conclusion that 95% of security products in our industry are nothing more than vaporware, offering the illusion of security rather than actual protection.

95% of orgs don't want to buy something that tells them there's a problem, they want to buy something that makes them feel safe, and that they've hit some proper checkbox quota. Good security tools yell loudly about everything that might be a problem, and require experts to triage accordingly. Hard to sell to a wide audience.
