I got the urge this morning to look (again) into Ethereum's Beacon deposit contract. Interestingly, I never realised until today that there is an (obvious) upper limit (due to the Merkle tree max depth) of how many entities can stake: 4,294,967,295 (we're currently at 1,616,382). Also, you could theoretically deposit up to 18,446,744,073 ETH into a single validator (which doesn't help in any way btw!). So assuming everyone deposits 32 ETH, the max ever staked ETH can be (2**32 - 1)*32 = 137,438,953,440 ETH (~$461,794,883,558,400).
