So Sony just announced their own L2 called Soneium. I wouldn't normally be particularly interested in this, however, Sony experimenting with L2s in combination with hardware-based signatures has me so excited for what's to come. Imagine cameras with hardware-based signing that can broadcast attestations to Soneium after capturing. That's a timestamped transaction with a Sony signature attesting to a particular image hash. The image can be verified as a "true" raw image that was not falsified or tampered with. Historically, Sony has had difficulties with in-device signing, but it would be an exciting step towards preventing forged / falsified images.

It's worth calling out that Sony is marketing this chain is more of a creator economy focused chain. However, I'm optimistic that it may expand to other experiments like this.
