Can you reframe the debate around taxes? What percent of gdp should we collect?

Our tax system is a complete mess and needs simplification. I support working towards a balanced approach to taxation on all levels, with a particular focus on removing often abused tax breaks and loopholes for corporations, ultra-wealthy individuals and organizations that are not contributing or contribute too little.

To me, this sounds like you’re very against success and wealth. A lot of the breaks and loopholes were put there because of harsh policies in the opposite direction that existed before them.

I’m actually very pro-business and pro-wealth! That’s the American dream. I just think there are way too many carveouts & loopholes that have made their way into our system that are being exploited by wealthy individuals/corporations. Simplify the tax code so no one is unfairly punished or given unfair advantage.

yeah but how much tax should we collect. That's my question. Today, right now, do we collect too much in tax or too little? It's only after that question can we get to a level debate. https://overtaxed.vercel.app/

Tax policy & budget discussions are inherently too nuanced and complex to be boiled down to a “too much/too little” discussion imo. Some people are over-taxed & some are under-taxed, spending is too much in some areas & too little in others, thus the need for reform (and politicians who aren’t beholden to donors)
