Went to a rare book store yesterday; imagine my surprise to see “Science and the Common Understanding” by Oppenheimer, 1st edition, 1954 Having just read The Making of the Atomic Bomb as part of @phil’s Silicon Valley Canon, it felt fortuitous to come across this original copy ✨ My first rare book! 📗 Also, the bookseller is a family friend of Richard Rhodes, author of the making of the atomic bomb, so it was cool to hear his experience having him around for dinner.
