Josh is a member of the EF, so he's speaking to what him and his organization need to do to achieve the goals they chose (to help Ethereum succeed). You can also say the same thing, "parseb wants ethereum to succeed, so the most important thing parseb can do is..." Neither is a statement of exclusive ownership over Ethereum. I work on improving decentralization in Ethereum by making it easier to make generative frontends, that does not give me exclusive control over any aspect of Ethereum either. We are all here trying to make Ethereum better.
