I didn't grow up with Disney animated films and it left a big cultural gap in my knowledge so I dedicated a few months to sitting down and watching my way through Disney's core history of films. I wanted to see what it's like to watch all of these films with without the gloss of childhood nostalgia. In general I am genre agnostic - if it's good, it's good. I had only seen the Lion King as a child. I limited this to animated originals and their sequels and remakes. Total films watched: 72 (100+ hours) My top 5: The Lion King - 4.5 stars Frozen II - 4.5 stars Lilo & Stitch - 4 stars Tangled - 4 stars Fantasia - 4 stars My bottom 5: The Lion King (2019) 0.5 stars Chicken Little - 0.5 stars Dumbo (2019) - 0.5 stars Mulan (2020) 0.5 stars Pinocchio (2022) 0.5 stars Overall, I am glad I decided to tackle this feat and it feels like a social gap has been filled. But I'm not jumping to see Disney projects in the cinema as they have been utter shit for the last while.
