Awakening It took me a few years to perfect growing poppies. The first year I grew them, I had to fight the local possums. The little drug addicts kept eating the flowers just before they bloomed. I found out the way to deter them using lapsang souchong tea, they hate the taste so stay away. After smelling that tea as I was brewing it, I don’t blame them 😁

I learnt this from other gardeners. They don’t like the taste so I sprayed it on the flowers and they stayed away.
