The masks of Kalmakare Cave are ancient artifacts that were discovered in Kalmakare Cave in Lorestan, Iran. These masks belong to the first half of the first millennium BC and are kept in the Museum of Ancient Iran. Golden faces or masks obtained from Kalmakre Cave in Lorestan indicate that during the Achaemenid Empire there was a kind of ritual or ceremony that there were probably traditional national celebrations in which these gold masks and faces were used in those special ceremonies. In this way, it can be assumed that at least some kind of masquerade celebrations that Europeans hold today existed in ancient Iran, but there is no document about the existence of this celebration in Iran during the Achaemenid period and AD.
