🏰 Five Gates Castle 📍İzmir / Foça This ancient fortress was given by Michel Paleok to Manuel Zacharna of Genoa in 1275, and the walls were repaired by the Genoese over time. After Phokaia was annexed by the Ottomans in 1455, the fortifications were repaired and equipped with towers, nine of which can now be distinguished.
