Amelia Earhart (1897 - 1937) 

She was a pioneering aviator and the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic in 1932. She set numerous records and advocated for women's rights in aviation. In 1937, while attempting to circumnavigate the globe, she disappeared over the Pacific Ocean, and her fate remains a mystery.
