React Native renders native components and has access to native APIs, it’s not a wrapper over web views

Yeah that’s true, some of those apps are not feeling *truly native* though and others are limited by what Expo and other ready made libraries are doing

I’m sure it has improved much in the last couple years. Back in the days it was just hard to implement custom native functionality without a lot of swift and java code and the default libraries were quite limited in scope

Native modules let you do pretty much anything (I think, I’m curious if there anything they can’t do). R.e. performance and not feeling “true native,” that’s just poor implementation. You can build a janky “true native” app as well. It’s easier to build a janky RN app, though, I’ll give you that
