The plague doctor mask: is an iconic and eerie symbol from the 17th-century Black Death. With its long, beak-like nose filled with herbs to ward off "miasma" (believed to spread the plague), it was part of a protective outfit worn by doctors. Although originally practical, it has since become a symbol of death and mystery, often depicted in art and costumes. Original masks are extremely rare today, making them intriguing historical artifacts.
