The culture of “omiyage” in Japan is wonderful and must be preserved over the centuries. It is basically about bringing a little gift to those who stay at home when you go on a pleasure trip or even a business trip. It is as if it were a thank you for those who could not travel with you but who “virtually” allowed you to go. For example, you bring omiyage to work colleagues when you take vacation, or to family members when they stay home to take care of the dogs, or even if your son goes to a friend's house. It is an act of courtesy that I love and sometimes I even make specific requests 😂 Today I got this delicious “dorayaki” from my daughter’s boyfriend mom, that, without saying a word is thanking me for taking care of her son. So sweet.
