Imagine this: in the late 19th century, the city of Paris installed something called "moral urinals" to combat public urination and encourage hygiene. These peculiar structures weren't your typical restrooms. They were designed so that the user could relieve themselves in private, while at the same time, be required to read moral lessons inscribed on the walls inside. The idea was to improve not only public cleanliness but also public morals! Next time you're hiking and find yourself reading an educational sign, remember that once upon a time, even bathroom breaks came with a lesson in ethics!
