Yes and no.
There are people I know that stay in school forever, as they enjoy learning, but never apply those learnings, just consume more knowledge. 
They depend on subsidies and are otherwise broke. 

There has to be a balance to applying any learning in order for it to generate income. Not everyone can make that connection.
