As a combat medic veteran, I donā€™t generally enjoy war moviesā€”how could I? Iā€™ve lived it. The smells, the sounds, the weight of it allā€”itā€™s not something you can just watch and feel "entertained." But Saving Private Ryan is different. Itā€™s my favorite war movie, not because I like reliving the memories, but because itā€™s the only film Iā€™ve seen that comes close to showing the raw, unfiltered chaos of combat. The opening scene aloneā€”Omaha Beachā€”hit like a flashback. The screams, the blood, the overwhelming sensory overload. It felt real. For a lot of vets, it was real, bringing back buried memories, some weā€™d rather leave in the past. That realism is why it stands out to meā€”itā€™s not about glorifying war, but about showing how it feels to be there. For those who donā€™t know what itā€™s like, itā€™s as close as theyā€™ll get. That said, I focus on Living, Loving, and Laughing nowā€”lifeā€™s too short to dwell on the past. Also, if you like this and want more let me know šŸ‘‡
