In “Interstellar” (2014) on the water planet, the soundtrack in the background has a prominent ticking noise. These ticks happen every 1.25 seconds. Each tick you hear is a whole day passing on Earth.

Its remoteness is because mountains surround it. This gives it breathtaking views but makes it extremely difficult to get to

In 2013, Lassi Rautiainen, a Finnish photographer, immortalized the two strange companions - a male brown bear and a female grey wolf. For ten days, Rautiainen snapped photos of the two going everywhere together, even going as far as hunting together and sharing their kills.

Chang and Eng Bunker were conjoined twins who became a sideshow sensation in the 19th century. Billed as the "Siamese Twins," they were two of the most studied human beings in the United States at the time. But despite their unusual lives, they had plenty of time for normalcy when they weren't on tour.

In 1971, engineers from the Soviet Union ignited a fire in a gas-filled hole in the Turkmenistan desert. Anticipating that the flames would extinguish within days, they were surprised when the fire continued to burn. Now, 52 years later, this site, known as “The Door to Hell,” is still ablaze.

Roman public latrines looked much like their Greek predecessors: rooms lined with stone or wooden bench seats positioned over a sewer. A tool called a tersorium was “used to clean the buttocks after defecation.” Imagine a loofah, but made of fresh sea sponge, attached to a wooden rod.
