I find horses on the ground running fast very inspiring but not when they fly through the air. The latter actually bothers me. Like a human running in the water, the physics just don't work.

I see what you mean, Our brains are wired to recognize when something defies the laws of physics. It's interesting how our perception of inspiration can be influenced by a sense of realism.
