on FC adoption as a protocol: do you see a proliferation of use cases that render the current Farcaster app excessively noisy verging on useless? If not, what is your vision of third-party clients building on top of FC as a protocol? Total replacement of current FC app? Evolution of protocol by third parties?

For Merkle, we'll likely solve with machine learning (but want to make it more user-controlled vs. a black box omni algo). Longer term, 3rd party clients feels like the wrong term -- since it's a protocol, once we get to permissionless Hubs and sign ups, everyone is on an equal playing field going forward.

nice, yeah agree with sentiment toward "third party". As a follow-up: is the machine learning approach just for curating a better feed? does that include filtering out casts with excessive metadata intended for interpretation by other clients (e.g. things like hashtags or --commands, etc)?

both, but I suspect consistently showing good stuff is much harder than filter out bad stuff
