Does this work automatically like it will fill in important airdrops etc?

for airdrops only the ones we support. But for ENS names, curve lock etc. it does for all.

And yes once all events of your tracked addresses are processed it is automatic. But first you need to add the tracked addresses, and then let history be pulled so that rotki knows what you have done so it can remind you.
