On September 9th, Notion will delete the data of all Russian users due to new U.S. sanctions. This is why "file over app" is essential — you should not be subject to the whims of platforms and governments. Be sovereign of your own data.

This might just be the term I was looking for. I used to refer to it as self-hosted, but not everything has to live a cloud, even if it is your own.
