channel owners casting announcements that followers couldn’t care less about:

I almost did a poll about this — so do you want announcements when we go live? Or when we drop a recording? Or just once a week? I have no idea how best to use that for /gmfarcaster yet without being annoying. 

But I do like how it has its own feed.

wait what do you mean its own feed? all mine are lumped in with the rest of my notifications. 

tbh i haven't seen any announcements in my feed where i felt i truly needed to be notified about whatever was happening. i think in your case, events are a different story. although i'm not convinced channel announcements are the best tooling for that. i like the way /events notifies me of GMFC shows via DC, but i do see upside in using announcements as well. 

tldr: don't listen to me, i have no clue what i'm talking about here lol

It has its own channel notification feed — that’s what I mean. Not on the timeline. But if I don’t have to look at the channel notifs I don’t have to. I like that they are all grouped together.

Channel changes have been in effect for 48 hours and I have some lessons learned: 

1. Be sure to follow the channel you want to be invited to. Some automated tools don’t work correctly unless you already follow the channel. 

2. For hypersub gated channels, best to also follow @hyperbot until the kinks are worked out. 

3. Be sure your notifications are set to “Priority Notifications” so you can see the channel tab. Scroll the whole tab to make sure you didn’t miss an invite. 

4. There are a lot of bugs. Give grace and assume hosts have the best intentions but are trying to figure it all out too. 

5. I’m not longer getting notifications from anyone unless I follow them. This is supposedly a bug. For now, best to go through your casts and check the replies manually. You may have way more than you think. Also check “Show More Replies” often until more channels have more members.

Had no idea that was the issue — but I do really like the channel notifs in their own spot. Super helpful!

oohhh okay. yup that solved it. shucks, i really don't like prio mode, but i guess i'll need to switch to keep those notis organized. this is kinda bad UX for ppl who don't use prio. something the team should consider.
